Online Audition and Competition Rules
ASL Artist Song Competition is an internet sign song competition, culminating in a Final Live competition! This event is for anyone who has a passion for ASL and Deaf Culture. Someone with a knack for language and interpretation of music. For those that love the beauty of ASL and the challenge of seamlessly blending English, ASL and music.

LIVE ASL Artist Song Competition:

The contestants are grouped in three categories, based on school enrollment at the time of audition:
High School Category: students currently enrolled in High School.
College Category: students currently enrolled in College courses.
General Public Category: anyone age 18+ who is not enrolled in school.
1. Online submission of your signed song, beginning May 15, 2017 – July 24 , 2017, by 11:59 PST.
2. Contestant must be associated with the competition group they are submitting for at the time of submission. Proof of HS or College enrollment will be required prior to being selected as a finalist.
3. Contestants will compete within their respective categories in an online audition from May 15, 2017 – July 24, 2017.

Submit your non-refundable payment of $20 online via PayPal or Venmo: “ASL Artist”
Email your video to email@example.com Include your full name and your song name from your completed registration form.
Video Submission Requirements
Online audition video submissions will be accepted from May 15 – July 24, 2017.
Audition video submissions must be solo – no group submissions will be accepted.
Please sign your name, the category for which you are competing (High School, College, General Public), and why you were inspired to sign your chosen song.
Song choice must be appropriate for all audiences. Gospel, patriotic and songs with profanity, inappropriate content, or deemed offensive by the ASL Artist Committee will be disqualified.
Original Songs are acceptable and encouraged.
Background must be free of distracting patterns and objects. A solid background in a blue, grey, black, brown, or other dark tones is preferred.
Contestant must wear clothing that is free of distracting patterns; solids are best. Color should contrast with the contestants’ skin tone.
Maximum Length: Video must be 4 minutes or less.
Lyrics must be captioned on the video. Failure to do so will result in being disqualified.
Online Auditions: Voting and Judging
The ASL Artist Committee, comprised of ASL experts, interpreters and artists will review the submitted videos in each category and select the three finalists. Finalists will be contacted and status verified.
The ASL Artist Committee will be judging online auditions based on the following:
ASL Interpretation: Fluency, Conceptual Accuracy, Clarity of Signs, and Sign Production
Technical Difficulty: Song selection and ability to accurately portray and interpret the meaning and intent of the original performer
Contestants who qualify as finalists will be notified by email on August 1, 2017. The list of finalists will be posted on www.elevatesign.com along with a link to their audition video.
