The ASL Artist Committee is proud to announce the 2017 ASL Artist Logo Competition

  • Art competition is open from May 15, 2017 - July24, 2017.

  • Open to all members of the deaf community (Deaf, HH and hearing signers) or disabled community (Autistic, wheelchair bound, etc.) age 18 or older.

 

  • The winner’s artwork will be used as the logo for ASL Song Artist, including marketing and promotional items.

  • The winning logo will become the official Logo of the event and will become the symbol for the Idol performance trophy.  

 

  • The winner will be recognized in the program and during the ASL Song Artist ceremony on September 23, 2017 at College of Canyons in Valencia, California.

ASL Artist Logo Competition Rules

Original Creation Criteria:

  • The logo shall address an element of ASL and or Deaf culture including: music, communication, interaction, language, or any combination of the above listed.

  • The logo shall address the emotion of the event - a celebration of American Sign Language and ASL Artist.

  • The image shall be artwork original to the imagination, emotions and talent of the artist.

  • The logo must be submitted in a digital format.  Work that is not original to the artist will be disqualified.

 

 

For the artist:

The logo will be posted on the ASL Song Artist website to be voted on by the ASL Artist committee.

The ASL Artist Committee reserves the right to use the art for promotion of the event, marketing, awards, etc and the artist will be recognized in the ASL Artist Program.   A contract will be provided to the winning artist outlining the above.  

Art competition is open from May 15, 2017 - July 24, 2017. All submissions must be received by: July 24, 2017 11:59 PST. Late entries will not be accepted.

How to submit an entry:

  • Entry fees are $20 per artwork entry.

  • Entry fees are non-refundable under any circumstance.

  • Artists may enter as many pieces of original artwork as they wish.

  • Payment for entries will be paid to ASL Artist PayPal account on the link on this page.

  • Payment and artwork must both be received on or before the deadline: July 24, 2017 by 11:59pm PST.

How to submit artwork:

  • Create digitally and save it as a .jpeg file with a 400 dpi resolution or higher

  • How to name your artwork file: Last name_First name_aslartist

Ex:    Jones_CJ_aslartist

  • Go to this page to fill out a form and submit your artwork, signed waiver and pay your fee.

 

Judging:

Artwork will be posted on the ASL Artist website to be judged by a committee and voted on the following criteria:

 

  • Interpretation and clarity of the event based on ASL, Deaf culture, music, communication, interaction, language, or any combination of the above listed

  • Quality of artistic skills and overall design of the artwork

  • Overall impression of the art

  • Connection to the tone of the event

  • Each voter shall vote only once

  • The top three artists will be selected by the highest number of votes


 

Winner will be announced by August 1, 2017
